| I've not put anything on here, cause, well, not much going on. Been very busy, but nothing that is newsworthy. Alot of snow, gym meets, alot of snow, cold cold weather, gym meets, and alot of snow. That's about it. I do have a mare that I need to bring in...she's supposed to be due in March, hope it warms up and the snow goes away, but when it does, all of the ice under it will melt, and things will flood again. We've had snow on the ground since Thanksgiving, something we've not had in a long time, the strange part is, the first of November, they were still chopping hay, something else that doesn't usually happen. So I guess that means we had about 3 weeks of fall, and the rest winter. In a few days the ground hog is going to tell us that there will be 6 more weeks of winter...right now that seems like a long time. The new government has taken over...so far I'm not impressed. But this little diddy might explain the whole mess.
Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete. Governmentium has a normal half-life e of 2- 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium' s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass. When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons. Enough Said, have a great day Laus Deo
| I got this little piece today, and found it to be a very interesting piece of history...enjoy. There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas? This week, I found out.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember. -The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ. -Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments. -Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love. -The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. -The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament. -The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation. -Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit, Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy. -The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes. -Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. -The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments. -The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples. -The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
So there is your history for today. Merry (Twelve Days of) Christmas Everyone!
| Once again.... I spend my mornings sliding to Twin Lake and back....only this year I'm driving the Ranger, and it's really squirrely...I think I need to get some weight in the back so it stays put somewhat . Of course, the state isn't spending as much this year on snow and ice removal, so the corners are totally interesting...I've listened to the radio reports the last two mornings about slide offs, and accidents, and things that could be totally avoided if folks would just slow down a little, or plan ahead. More snow is forecasted for the rest of the week, so it will keep life interesting to say in the least. Made it through Thanksgiving...which is always awesome...the Christoffersens really know how to put on a feast. Pam had creamed onions...yummm, hadn't had those in a long time. It's funny how some dishes just hit the spot sometimes. On Friday we had Cook Christmas. I came home from Thursdays festivities early so I could get the floors mopped without people tracking through, then on Friday was the usual cleaning, and around 1:30 Jon and I headed out to get a tree. Now, for those that know me..I am REALLY picky about my trees. They must be between 7-7 1/2 ft tall, blue spruce, full, and the bluer the better. This year, I was, OK, it's 2:00, I need a tree, people are coming around 5...and I still needed to start supper. So, we cruised the lot, found a tree that looked good, had Jon hold it up to see how tall and what it looked like...the tag said $25..really good price ( I paid 40 -45 for the last 2 years), looked good...let's go....We got home, trimmed the trunk so it would take water, put it in the tree stand, sat it up, and watched it fall....and fall...and fall....the stupid trunk goes about 4 directions in about 5 ft. So, Jon and I fought it...and fought it. Finally brought it into the house, and sat it up and tied the stupid thing to the wall with dental floss!!! I propped it up with a couple magazines under the front of the stand, and it stayed. Mike has been giving me a hard time about the dental floss....I didn't have fishing line, so I used the next best thing, that's called farmers ingenuity!! We got the lights on it, and got the angel on it, and she evidently had a "hard night" the night before...fell off a couple of times, so I "nested" her into the top, and so far it's still standing!!!!!! Oh, so pretty on the outside, and oh, so wicked and nasty on the inside! And, yes KY...that's snow outside! Lindi has stayed away, looked it over really good, and thought about it, but so far so good...for now anyway....
We had a great time with the family, Mom faded fast after 7:30, I think her last pills for the day really hit her hard and fast, and one of them is to help her sleep. So, she was ready to go home and go to bed by 8:30, but she did really well most of the night, and looked really good the day before with all of the family. Parkinsons is an ugly disease...but she's really hangin in there, and still has her sense of humor.
| Did something this weekend that I'm wondering was smart or not. Was offered a free Aussie/Heeler female dog about a week ago and went Sat. and picked her up. Her name is Zoe (much to Mike and Josh's dismay) it fits her and she answers to it, so it stays. She's about 1 year old very smart and is full of energy! She was kept in a kennel, and is now staying in a box stall until she learns that this is home. Kay is NOT impressed, she's been queen of the farm for 13 years, and this does not fit her program. But I'm hoping they make friends and Zoe learns from Kay. Shannon took the pics, not the greatest for some reason, but here she is.

| I haven't posted in awhile...haven't known what to say, but after today and listening to the news reports on how the government is bailing out AIG, Freddy Mac and the rest, but probably not the auto industry..OK, common sense tells me that you take away good paying jobs, people can't make payments...give them decent paying jobs and we don't have to bail out AIG, Freddy Mac or Fanny Mae, people will pay their mortgages, and those companies won't be in trouble. I think that the government is thinking backa**wards and needs to wake up! People want to work, give them jobs that they can earn a decent paycheck with and get rid of the crooked people that let people borrow more than they knew they could pay back on their mortgage and party on borrowed taxpayer money. Get the trade agreements straightened out so the the US can compete. I agree with the Old Goat...greed has gotten all of us in this mess, and until God is back in control...it's not going to change. We've been studying 1 John Sunday evenings, and have been discussing the anti Christ, and who he is, and what powers he has on this earth. It surprises me when I find out that some people who believe that the Holy Spirit exist in them, do not seem to think that there are demon spirits that can take over a person too. And that they are in this world waiting for their chance. The Bible says that there is a spiritual war going on around us that we can't even see....Frank Paretti puts a "face" on that war, and yes, his work is fiction, but "This Present Darkness" is a must read, I believe for those who are question if this battle actually goes on. I read this one and 3 of his others this summer for the 3rd time, and kept saying to myself...Oh my gosh, this is Ashland Center!!!! And it's not just Ashland...it's every God fearing Church that is trying to do HIS will....we're in a WAR! I've told the gang at the Sunday night study, that I can't wait to get into Revelations...they think I'm nuts. I'm seeing the "preface" in 1 John..I think I understand why God had him write Revelations.... | | |
